Orthotics
Your feet are the foundation for the rest of your body. Poor biomechanics in the feet can lead to many painful conditions including:
- Heel or arch pain (including plantar fasciutis)
- Bunions, corns, calluses,
- Muscle fatigue
- Shin splints
- Knee pain
- Hip pain
- Low back pain
What is an orthotic?
Prescription orthotics look like insoles, but they are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalances. They reduce strain on your body by correcting poor foot motion and weight distribution while walking, running, standing or playing sports.
Orthotics can be made to fit into a variety of shoes for work and play. They may even be made to fit cycling shoes, skates and snowboard boots.
Who wears orthotics?
Orthotics are worn by many people for many reasons. Children may wear orthotics to ensure that they minimize stress on their joints while growing, and athletes often wear them to ensure proper biomechanics and optimize performance while reducing risk of injury.
How can I get some Orthotics?
At Whistler Chiropractic we are trained and licensed to prescribe and fit orthotics. We work with a highly qualified orthotics lab to ensure that your custom orthotics are appropriate for your needs.
A thorough assessment will be done in the chiropractic office to determine what corrections, if any, are needed. Then a 3-D mold of your feet will be made and sent to the lab where the orthotic is fabricated.
